Has IG solved the Shein ad problem and I made a mistake this week on social media.
Social media news and tips for the week of May 28th 2023
This is my 20th week of sending out this newsletter! If you’ve been enjoying it I’d love for you to share it with others who you think would like it! Thank you.
This week I did something that I regret. I let my frustration get the better of me.
I was scrolling Instagram and I saw a post from someone. It was all about trying these hacks for social media growth. I found myself getting angry about what she was telling people to do and instead of scrolling on by I commented something snarky.
And while I 100% disagree with her approach, I regret how I handled my comment and subsequent story calling her out.
I know better and apologized to her via DM.
It was also a good reminder to me that I shouldn’t be consuming content that doesn’t align with my own values. It can be a slippery slope on social media to hit the follow button on accounts you really shouldn’t.
Are there any accounts you should be reconsidering following? Let me know by leaving a comment.
Something to think about this week 💡
Should you be posting photos or videos of your kids on social media? Someone asked me this question and then I saw this article from the Atlantic.
I’d love to know what you think about this. This is something that I’ve been thinking about myself a lot more as my kids get older. I think about their privacy but I also think about what will happen when they grow up and see what I’ve shared. Whether we like it or not, we live in a world where our kids and their friends will use social media.
What do you think? I’d love to hear from you.

Unfollowing those that don’t align is a great relief. Just like in real life we don’t want to stay in a space that makes us uncomfortable time and again. It allows us to create a joyful space to enjoy but it does take time and effort. Haven’t gotten there yet!
Not sharing kids - especially kids as content as the article mentions - is a tricky subject because for some they are simply the gateway to more content. It’s an easy out. Until they grow up and they are no longer cute willing participants. It’s a bit like the Truman show.
