If you scroll to the bottom, you’ll see a photo of something I saw this weekend. I liked it, but would also add to it with something that has been on my mind in the last week.
Putting your ideas out there into the world takes courage.
Often when we are coming up with a new idea, it is met with our own resistance or “what about this or that?”. I get it. Some things need thought through, but I also believe that sometimes you don’t need to overthink things. You’ve got to try things. It’s ok to make mistakes because that is where we’ll learn.
In other words, don’t wait for perfection or to have every single detail thought out. Don’t be your own idea killer.
Something to think about this week 💡
Are you forgetting the basics?
Sometimes we get so caught up in everything a product, offer, service can do for people. This leads us to forgetting the things that people want to know the most when promoting them. Then what happens? Frustration.
In the last week, I saw pieces of content from businesses that forgot to include the price or timing of something they were promoting. I couldn’t find the information anywhere and I clicked through a few times. End result? I left dissatisfied and not buying something I was interested in.
Put on your marketing hat: What do you think? 📰
Last week Jaguar had a major rebrand. What do you think?
Love it: Jaguar rebrand is actually genius (Forbes)
Not a fan: Jaguar has rebranded when it needs to revitalize (Marketing News)
Something to do this week
Relationships matter more than the numbers.
Chances are your social media community hasn’t grown drastically this year in terms of numbers. If you are on Instagram, you probably know what I’m talking about. It is getting harder and harder to grow your community unless you are Taylor Swift ;)
But instead of focusing on the numbers, why don’t you focus on something more meaningful?
The relationships you have built this year (online and offline).
I bet if you took 10 minutes, you’d come up with a long list that would make you realize that what you are doing matters to someone and is more important than your follower count.
